Salutation

Dear Audience, Dear Fellow Dancers,

It is so nice to repeat the commonplace: if summer, then Győr, if Győr, then dance, if dance then all the city is ours.

The words of Gyula Harangozó, a legendary Hungarian dancer respected by all of us, come to my mind now, just before the official opening ceremony of the 7th Hungarian Dance Festival. Way back in 2000, when we arranged this dance event for the second time, he told us that we were on the right track to become a tradition. And he added that such a great initiative should not become a tradition that feels like a compulsory bother.
Well, we are happy to send our message to him: we accepted and respected all of his words and advice.

It is hard to express with words how happy we, organisers are when we expect guests from all over Europe in addition to the outstanding companies of the Hungarian dance communities. This year we will be able to enjoy the best productions of our fellow dancers from Vienna and Bratislava.

We feel that dance has, after twenty years, finally took its worthy position in the wide scale of our everyday culture. And our city, our festival have contributed to that.
We opened our doors even wider this year. Representatives of contemporary and modern dance will also be present, as well as classical ballet, folk dance and experimental ensembles. Professional and amateur dancers alike. We promise scores of open-air dance events in addition to more than twenty theatre productions. Those will include happenings and performances where spectators will be active participants in events.

We hope to welcome you at the programmes of the 7th Hungarian Dance festival.
Let the dance begin!
